Biography
Ryan Fish is a New York based performing artist. Ryan received his BS in Dance from the University of Oregon as well as the Outstanding Undergraduate Dance Major award. Born and raised in Santa Cruz, CA, Ryan spent much of his time dedicated to choir and theatre. Ryan worked multiple summers performing with CabrilloStage: Summer Musical Theatre, most notably as Motel in the 2016 production of Fiddler on the Roof. Musicals first exposed Ryan to dance, quickly followed by training in contemporary and post-modern.
In 2018, Ryan increased his dance training by attending the PARTS Summer School program in Brussels, BE before entering his final year of undergraduate work. Ryan has performed inside and outside of school functions. Performing credits while at the U of O include “L’Histoire Du Soldat” (Shannon Mockli/Pacific Artists’ Collective), “Game Plan” (Bella Lewitzky/Walter Kennedy), “A Duet of Many Faces,” (Steven Chatfield), & "the Green Room: Dad's lair" (Rita Honka). Immediately after graduating, Ryan worked with GarnerDances on Anatomy of Light.
Ryan also finds time to perform outside of danced roles. He was a cast member of the premier musical theatre review concert at the U of O in 2017, and again in 2019; created and directed by Kevin Dempsey. Ryan was also a member of the all-male a cappella group, On the Rocks. In fall 2018, Ryan toured with the group in Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina on an Arts Envoy program hosted by the US State Department. While in school Ryan was also the recipient of multiple dance scholarships including the Georgianne Teller Singer Dean's Fellowship in Dance.
At the end of 2021 Ryan earned his certificate as a Personal Trainer from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and has continued education in pain-free training methods (PPSC) and nutrition coaching (PN1-NC). He currently dances with URBAN/TRIBE at the direction Mathew James, and works as a movement and fitness coach both privately and with Equinox 76th St in Manhattan, NY.
